GPS Machine Control Benefits for Contractors and Construction Companies

Construction companies, no matter the size, have a certain number of costs that occur annually. To minimize these most effectively, each business must work throughout the year, and be efficient to offset the costs. In an earthwork situation, it is imperative to keep the machines running as often, and as long as possible. GPS helps a contractor do this on all fronts by streamlining, connecting, and documenting everything about a job, from start to finish for all company departments.
  1. Accurate Grade:The basic advantage of GPS is that machines know where they are, what they have to do, and simply run all day long, ACCURATELY, with a rookie drivers in the cockpit. The accuracy of the equipment ensures grade within tolerances, on the first pass, reducing work time, eliminating mid job survey crews, bumped stakes, and the like.

  2. Job Managment: The second most important advantage to GPS controlled jobsites is management of machines, resources, personnel, and time. Continual, accurate, and complete jobsite information allows a foreman to make these decisions quickly and accurately based on facts. Contractors report that this reduces the time lost to bad decisions, as well as making the job of formen, managers, superintendents, & engineers easier and more efficient. The same management crew can now handle job sites double the size with ease, as well as multiple more machines on site, accurately, efficiently, and profitably.

  3. Data Management: Automated Reports, daily reports, and other data reports can be and are generated by GPS Machine Control systems on a routine basis. These reports, are archived and distributed to all of the branches of your business to aid in work flow. The generation of this data usually allows companies to streamline their head office systems as well. All information is readily available to those that need it, making scheduling, billing, and making management decisions more efficient are all a matter of data distribution. With this data generation also comes a de facto communication level between the employees of your firm. As each is able to see what is going on, without having to personally transmit the information to each desk or talk directly to one another.

  4. Billing Departments: The billing department of your company must document, substantiate, and collect revenues. Without information including what was done, how much, when, how often, etcetera, they are not able to adequately defend these claims for payment. GPS systems remove this age-old problem and provide a perfect paper trail to prove activities completed, amount of material moved, and much more. Never have an argument or pay for their dirt again. Prove it!
